Festival: Filmfare Awards

The Indian film industry saw the formation of the Filmfare Awards in the year 1954. The awards were incepted in order to honor and encourage the artists for their outstanding talent in Bollywood. The winners were declared on the basis of the highest number of votes cast by the readers of the famous Filmfare magazine. The film ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ (directed by Raj Kapoor) won several awards in various categories. The film was a smash hit in 1985.
