The 2001 IIFA Awards, officially known as the 2nd International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the International Indian Film Academy honored the best films of 2000. This year, the sun city of South Africa played host to the Indian Film Industry. The highlight of the evening was participation by the lead star cast Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, A. R. Rahman and the entire star cast of the film.
The ceremony was televised in India and internationally on Star Plus. Miss World Priyanka Chopra and the dashing Kabir Bedi hosted the ceremony. Hrithik Roshan descended on stage enthralling millions. Karisma Kapoor presented the music nominations through an innovative performance. It was a night when the sun gods rested as the stars of Indian Cinema shone brighter than ever.
