Celebrated In: India
The birth anniversary of Saint Kabirdas, who was a poet and revolutionary saint falls on the full moon day in the month of Jyeshta ( May-June). It is observed in India and around the world. On this day, meetings and satsangs are held.
Sant Kabir was a great devotee of Lord Rama. He lived in the holy city of Kashi (Varanasi) around the 14th century.
Sant Kabir’s life is full of wonder and mysticism. It seems as though a self-realized soul was sent by God to spend a lifetime on Earth to teach people practical religious wisdom at a time when religion was reduced to mere formalities and ritualism by the priests and mullahs.
some dohas of Sant Kabir ji for all of us to reflect upon:
साँई इतना दीजिए, जा में कुटुंब समाय ।
मैं भी भूखा ना रहूँ, साधु न भुखा जाय॥
Translation: O God! Give me so much wealth, such that my family is fed; I don't have any cravings, and the Sadhu (saint) does not go hungry from my doorstep.
दुःख में सुमिरन सब करे, सुख में करै न कोय।
जो सुख में सुमिरन करे, तो दुःख काहे को होय ॥
Translation: During suffering, everyone prays and remembers Him; in joy, no one does. If one prays and remembers Him in happiness, why would sorrow come?
