The Founder-Director of this stately recreation of the past sculptural masterpiece is late Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, who was an eminent Odissi dance guru and mardal player of international status. The dance event is jointly organized by Orissa Tourism and Odissi Research Centre, which also gives you an option to visit 'crafts mela', where you have varied options of purchasing handmade items. Every year, the Konark Dance and Music Festival is held in an open air auditorium against the setting of the magnificent Sun Temple. This festival is organized by the Odissi Research Center and Orissa tourism. During this festival, people can get to see much valued dance forms of India like Odissi, Bharathnatyam, Manipuri, Kathak and Chau Dance. Various music disciplines of the country also participate in this 3-day festival.
