International Day of Families

Category: Day
15th of May every year is observed as an International Day of Families.

The Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 1993 with resolution A/RES/47/237 and reflects the importance the international community attaches to families. This day is observed with a purpose of understanding importance of having healthy and happy relationships with your relatives.

We Human ( Homo Sapiens or Social Animal) developed the concept of a family. where we as a group affiliate each other by consanguinity, co-residence, affinity primarily and at time by human emotions. We nurture together also by our subsequent choices, or of affiliated family members affinity and co-residence, we extend our family and include in-laws, grand-children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces etc.

However with materialistic electronic fast pace lifestyle, we are not able to keep up with the sanctity of this wonderful concept developed by us. Hence this day remind us every year with a different motive to keep us aware about our changing mind sets and help us to understand the significance of family in mankind.

It is very interesting to note that every year there is a different theme for the subjected day. It is interesting to note the following thought about this day:
