Celebrated In: India

Batuk Bhairav Jayanti is believed to be the day when Hindu God Shiva appeared on earth as Bhatuk Bhairav. It is believed that Shiva appeared in this form on the tenth day during the waxing phase of moon (shukla paksha) in Jyeshta month.

Batuk Bhairav is believed to be the child form of Lord Shiva.

This form of Shiva is propitiated by Tantrics for wealth and prosperity. The day is of great importance in the Batuk Bhairav temples in North India.

The literal meaning of ‘Bhairava’ is ‘Terrific.’ The fiery Lord Bhairav is an incarnation of Lord Shiva. Often he is displayed accompanied by a dog symbolizing dharma.

Lord Bhairav is easily pleased by following the regular worship. The worshiper will be always protected, his all obstacles will be removed; the soul will be cleansed with intense meditation and thus helps turning the wheel of fortune in his favor.
