Purnagiri is located on the top of a hill and is 20 kms from Tanakpur. Purnagiri It is located on the right bank of the river kali. Also known as Punyagiri (meaning the mountain of good deeds), the Purnagiri temple is visited by thousands of devotees throughout the year. The temple fair is organized between the months of Poush and Chaitra (March) during which the entire valley of Punyagiri reverberates with the sound of chants, hymns and devotional songs.

Purnagiri temple is one of the Siddh Peeth. It is believed that Goddess Sati fulfills the desire of Devotees. It is believed that Daksha Prajapati father of Sati organized a ceremony in which he did not invite Lord Shiva. Sati felt insulted and jumped into fire. The burnt part of the Sati fell here when Lord Shiva was carrying her body and this become Siddh peeth.

Purnagiri Fair is a fantabulous fair stretching 40 days held near the Purnagiri temple situated on a hilltop on the bank of river Kali near Tanakpur. The fair is held immediately after the Holi festival. The temple here pulls large crowds during the fair and other auspicious days. Make merry at this fabulous fair with.
