This festival is celebrated with great respect and reverence all across India. Mahatma was the person who played the most important role for making India free from the British rule. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, also known as ‘Bapu’, was born on the 2nd of October 1869 in Gujarat. Gandhi was a follower and preacher of truth and non-violence. He initiated the ‘Satyagraha’ movement to achieve freedom for India. He lived a very simple life and believed that independence can only be attained through non-violence.

Till the year 1914, Gandhi acted as a leader for the Indians in South Africa against the British rule over India. Later, Mahatma Gandhi became as the forerunner of the Indian freedom struggle.
