Chemrey Angchok Festival is a monastic festival that is a rich and vibrant celebration, attracting tourists to the lovely destination of Ladakh every November. It is a 2-day long cultural celebration.

The Chemrey Monastery is nestled in the beautiful valley of Changla, which is 45 km from Leh. It is the general venue for this festival. The Chemrey Monastery was established in 1664, and this festival thus has a long tradition. This monastery has a collection of special scriptures with gold lettering and titles styled in silver.

The Chemrey Angchok festival is a 2-day carnival that celebrates the rich and diverse culture of Ladakh. The festival starts and ends with colorful parades. During the festival, there are performances of dance and music unique to this region. Dancers portray stories from Tibetan and Buddhist history.

This festival is held on the ninth month of the Tibetan Calendar, which is in November. This carnival is held at an altitude of over 10,000 feet above sea level, and this attracts tourists from many places because of its colourful parades and lively performances.

The parades at the start and end of the festival are a colourful spectacle in themselves. During the festival, cultural celebrations are held, demonstrating the rich art forms of this region. The special feature of this celebration is a dance performance that creatively portrays the triumph of good over evil. Masked dancers portray divinities and personalities from Tibetan and Buddhist lore. Folk artists use this festival as a special platform to express the lovely art forms.
