The year 1954 saw the dawn of the Filmfare Awards in the Indian film industry. The aim of the awards is to acknowledge and encourage talent in Bollywood. The award ceremony was organized every year in Mumbai. The evening proved lucky for Bimal Roy, as his film ‘Madhumati’ swept many awards for the year.
