The 47th Filmfare Popular Awards were held on 16th February at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The film ‘Lagaan’ was presented with eight awards for the year. The film is about the oppression of peasants by the British Raj (set in the Victorian period). The movie is also considered as a truly complete film. It was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
